What are Dental Veneers?

One of the most effective restorations for rectifying teeth that are chipped, stained or discoloured, crooked or have gaps between them are dental veneers.

Finely made from thin pieces of porcelain, when veneers are bonded to the front surface of your teeth, they become strong and durable. Porcelain veneers are an ideal solution to capturing the look you have always wanted with only minimal disturbance to your natural tooth structure.

As with other restorative procedures, once your teeth are precisely prepared, a mould either optical or conventional is taken to construct the veneers. To achieve a perfect alignment with your gum-line and a flawless natural look. Staining is also less of a problem with porcelain veneers, with the high temperature glazing on the surface, making them highly resistant to stains.
Optimal oral health will significantly contribute to the success and longevity of your new veneers,
therefore the Centenary Drive Dental team may prescribe a taylored oral hygiene routine.

Types of Dental Veneers

Celebrities are often noted for their glamorous white, perfect smile, but many often have cosmetic dentistry and dental veneers to thank for their Hollywood smile.
There are two types of veneers that are used: Porcelain and Composite.

Porcelain Veneers

  • This substance is highly favoured for creating veneers because of its strength and durability.

  • If porcelain veneers are well looked after with professional care and regular maintenance they could last for up to 25 years or even longer.

  • Another advantage of having porcelain veneers is its ability to reflect light and match surrounding natural teeth.

  • IPS e.max CAD veneers are all-ceramic restorations which can closely match the natural color of the teeth. Both strong and aesthetically natural, our clinic can offer you one visit, same day fabrication. State-of-art equipment allows in super fine mode to create almost invisible lines of transition of a restoration to a natural tooth structure. Replicating real life naturality of transitional lines.

Lumineers

  • Lumineers, are becoming more popular over traditional porcelain veneers due to their fantastic natural appearance and the fact that they are thinner and require a smaller amount of enamel to be removed. Thickness of around 0.2mm

  • Lumineers are slightly more expensive than porcelain veneers.

  • They look and feel natural from the moment they are placed. With Lumineers you can eat and drink anything you want with confidence because they are applied in the most durable way.

  • With IPS e.max CAD lumineers are all-ceramic restorations which can closely match the natural color of the teeth, and the can also be delivered same day and same appointment.

Composite Veneers

  • Composite veneers can be built up directly in your mouth, with the veneers able to be bonded and moulded to the front of your teeth in a single dentist visit.

  • This type of veneer can offer an relatively equal standard of improvement to appearance like that of porcelain.

  • Veneers of composite material tend to be cheaper than porcelain though as they are less durable and may be in need of replacement more often.

  • Arrange an appointment with one of our skilled dentists to discuss your veneer treatment options.
